£26,250 - £30,500
The Company
We’re partnering with an award-winning communications agency that delivers strategic advice, creative campaigns and high-impact communications for organisations operating within complex and important sectors.
The agency works with an impressive portfolio of clients across areas including infrastructure, renewable energy, construction, healthcare, manufacturing and the built environment. With a supportive and close-knit culture, the business offers structured training, clear career progression and the opportunity to contribute to interesting, nationally significant projects from an early stage.
Due to continued growth, the agency is now looking to recruit two additional people into its Cheltenham team. One position will focus predominantly on planning and communications, while the other will have a greater focus on corporate communications and media relations.
The Role
These are hands-on communications positions where you’ll support Account Managers and senior colleagues in delivering campaigns for a varied portfolio of clients.
The planning and communications position will support organisations operating across airports, ports, offshore wind and carbon capture and storage. You’ll help monitor political, policy and industry developments, understand stakeholder sentiment and produce clear communications around complex projects. This could include press releases, newsletters, stakeholder updates, media materials and campaign content.
The corporate communications position will work across clients within construction, the built environment, outsourcing, healthcare and manufacturing. You’ll support media-relations activity, identify relevant press opportunities, build media lists, liaise with journalists and draft engaging content including press releases, articles and newsletters.
Across both positions, you’ll conduct research, monitor daily media coverage, contribute ideas, coordinate campaign materials and support events, exhibitions and briefings. You’ll also attend client meetings, respond to requests and gradually develop trusted relationships with clients, journalists and stakeholders.
These are communications-led roles rather than sales positions. While you’ll become increasingly client-facing, your primary focus will be delivering accurate, engaging work and helping campaigns and client accounts run effectively.
The level of responsibility will be shaped around your experience. At Senior Account Executive level, you’ll be expected to bring stronger corporate communications and media-relations experience, take greater ownership of campaign delivery and confidently manage day-to-day client activity.
Skills and Experience
You’ll be driven, ambitious and intellectually curious, with a genuine interest in communications, current affairs, politics, business and the media.
A strong academic background is important. A degree in politics, international relations, public policy, planning, history, English, journalism or another research- and writing-focused subject would be particularly relevant.
You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand detailed or complex subjects and turn them into clear, engaging content.
You’ll demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgement and a commitment to producing accurate work.
You’ll be highly organised and comfortable managing several projects, priorities and deadlines at the same time.
You’ll be positive, personable and genuinely interested in developing relationships with colleagues, clients, journalists and external stakeholders.
An understanding of local politics, public policy, planning processes or government decision-making would be particularly valuable for the planning and communications position, although specialist knowledge can be developed within the role.
Previous experience within PR, corporate communications, media relations, public affairs or stakeholder engagement would be beneficial. This will be particularly important for candidates applying at Senior Account Executive level.
Strong graduates with relevant academic, internship, political, campaigning, student-media or communications experience will also be considered for the Account Executive positions.
